Small business

Simple, fast access to mental health treatment

Mental health option

When you’re running a business, you want your employees to flourish in their roles, not suffer in silence if life becomes a struggle. Today, we know that people often have problems with their mental health, so looking after your employee’s minds with health insurance, as well as their bodies, is more important than ever.

With the Mental Health option in place, you’ll show your business commitment to supporting mental health. And you’ll be able to help your staff start feeling like themselves again, whether they need counselling, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), or psychiatric treatment in a private hospital.

Supporting mental health in the workplace

  • Your employees can talk confidentially to an expert without any fuss. As soon as stress, anxiety or depression takes hold, they just need to call our Stronger Minds team to arrange an assessment.
  • Our approved network of counsellors, psychologists and mental health clinicians span the UK and have been carefully selected to support our members.
  • If counselling is recommended, our Stronger Minds team will arrange face-to-face, electronic- or telephone-based sessions – whatever feels right.
  • There’s no need for them to take time out for a GP appointment – our Stronger Minds team can transfer them through to one of our experienced counsellors or psychologists who will listen to their concerns and guide them to the right support.
  • If your employee has a complex condition, or their treatment plan needs to be revised, our Stronger Minds team will be there to guide them, ensuring they’re comfortable with every decision that’s made to help them get well.

Talking to an expert to reduce the worry

Anne is 39 and is part of a team of 12 other recruitment consultants. Recently, Anne has been feeling depressed and has found it increasingly difficult to sleep at night. As a recruitment consultant, her role is highly target-focussed. She’s been lacking energy, feeling exhausted and falling short of her targets at work, which is adding to her stress.

Anne has a very honest and open relationship with her manager and confides in her during their next catch up. Anne’s manager reminds her that she has access to mental health support as part of their business health insurance. This means that she doesn’t need to arrange a GP appointment – she can simply call the Stronger Minds team to start receiving help and support.

On her lunch break, Anne calls the Stronger Minds team and is transferred to a counsellor over the phone who listens attentively and subsequently recommends a treatment plan consisting of telephone counselling. Taking this first step already makes Anne feel brighter for the first time in a long while and getting here has been easier than she expected it to be – thanks to the Mental Health option.

What this option will pay for

  • Counselling sessions: face-to-face, email or telephone counselling through our Stronger Minds service, helping your employees get the help they need faster.
  • Outpatient treatment: any number of specialist consultations for psychiatric treatment, or psychiatric treatment by psychologists and cognitive behavioural therapists.
