Private healthcare for employees

What’s included in our core cover?

We provide a wide range of benefits to help you look after your people. They’ll feel taken care of, supported and reassured that they can get help when they need it most. Our core cover includes:

  • In-patient and day-patient care costs, including surgery, specialists’ fees and drugs
  • Hospital accommodation for one parent if their child under 16 is having in-patient treatment that we cover
  • CT, MRI or PET scans after a specialist has referred them
  • Ambulance transport to another medical facility if your employee is getting private in-patient or day-patient treatment
  • Cash payment for out-patient or day-patient chemotherapy or radiotherapy that’s received free on the NHS
  • Support and information provided by our Health at Hand service and online health centres
  • Wellbeing incentives such as gym membership to keep your employees fit and healthy

Cover options

We know that all businesses are different. So we have a range of options that let you choose the cover that’s right for you. Below is a summary of our cover.

First aid
Therapies option

Take care of that injury, whether it happened during the office move or a weekend jog. This option covers fees for out-patient treatment by a physiotherapist.

Mental Health option

Look after more than just your employees’ physical health with cover for mental health issues. It includes psychiatric treatment by psychologists and cognitive behavioural therapists when referred by a specialist.

Extra care
Extra Care option

Go that extra mile and give your employees cover for oral surgery, podiatry and chiropody. It also includes cover for a nurse to give them antibiotics or chemotherapy for cancer through a drip if they need it, all in the comfort of their own home.

Extended Cover option

This will give your people a wider choice of hospitals and specialists to choose from. They can also book virtual doctors' appointments at a time which suits them using our Doctor@Hand GP service, delivered by Doctor Care Anywhere.

Resilience stress management
Employee Assistance Programmes

When members of your team are going through difficult times, such as divorce or money problems, they may find it hard to concentrate on work. EAP gives them a professionally trained expert to talk to, so they get problems off their chest and are supported through it.

Extra cancer cover
Extra Cancer cover

Show your employees you care when they need it most. This option means we’ll cover the costs of your employee’s cancer treatment whatever path it takes.

Travel Cover option

If your employees travel for business or pleasure, this option will cover them for emergency medical treatment should they need it. It also includes a range of travel-related benefits.

Dentist and Optician Cashback option

Help your employees look after their teeth and eyesight with cashback towards dentists’ fees, glasses/contact lenses and eye tests.

"I chose AXA PPP healthcare because of the level of cover we get for the price – and from a well-known brand that’s linked to the Chamber of Commerce.”

Tony Harrison, Head of Sales and Marketing at Move Vehicle Leasing, AXA PPP healthcare member since 2016.

What's not covered?

As with most private healthcare plans, there are some general exclusions and limitations.

Here are some of the most significant things that your plan won't cover:

  • Routine pregnancy and childbirth.
  • Out-patient drugs and dressing.
  • Treatment of ongoing, recurrent and long-term conditions (chronic conditions).
  • Cosmetic treatment.
  • Treatment needed as a result of training for or taking part in any sport for which you are paid, receive a grant or sponsorship (not counting travel costs) or are competing for prize money.
  • Treatment of medical conditions you had, or had symptoms of, before you joined.
  • Fees if you choose to use a hospital that is not in our Directory of Hospitals.

This information is just a summary of some of the cover we offer and the key exclusions. For more information about our cover, any cover limitations and what we don't cover please see our product brochure.

Ways to lower your costs

Here are some other ways you can look after your employees while still keeping an eye on your bottom line.

  • Pay up-front
Save 5% by paying your subscription yearly instead of monthly.
  • Select the six-week option
Save up to 20% and still get your people back to work quickly. Your employees will be treated on the NHS unless they need to wait more than six weeks from when treatment should take place. In which case they can go private straightaway
  • Fix your subscription for two years
Know exactly how much you’ll be investing in each employee over the next two years. Please note that tax changes would still apply.
  • Choose an excess
Reduce your annual subscription with an excess of £100, £250 or £500 per employee.

A choice of how we cover existing conditions

We offer four different ways of treating medical conditions your employees already have. The cost of your plan will depend on which option you choose. The options are:

  • We won’t cover pre-existing conditions at all
  • We can cover pre-existing conditions after two years of cover, subject to your membership terms. Employees need to have been completely trouble-free from advice, treatment or a special diet for a year after joining
  • We can use any underwriting terms you’ve had with previous health insurers. The new terms and conditions for your plan will apply
  • We can cover pre-existing conditions, subject to your membership terms. Available if you’re looking to cover 15 people or more  feefo_sq_trusted_service_2019_481x481.png defaqto-5-star-award.png
