Problems with muscles, bones and joints can often be tackled with some simple self-management advice and may not even need treatment. But if things don’t improve, these problems can lead to time off meaning that the cost to your employees’ health and your business can be high.

The right support to ease the pressure

  • Take care of your team’s physical health with fast access to hands-on treatment from a physiotherapist, osteopath, chiropractor, homeopath or acupuncturist – whichever’s right for them.
  • Fees paid for up to 10 sessions when your employees have been referred by a GP or our Working Body service.
  • Over-the-phone assessment, discussion and advice from Working Body* physiotherapists for help with managing conditions.

Fast access to physiotherapy with no need for a GP referral

James is 32 and is the co-founder of a graphic design agency in Manchester. They employ 24 people and have recently moved into a larger office in the city centre. During the office move, James injured his back while lifting boxes. James had opted for the Therapies option as part of his business healthcare cover, so he called the Working Body team to discuss his injury. They advised physiotherapy and quickly arranged 10 sessions for him. As James wasn’t able to go into work while his back was so painful, getting treated quickly was important – and there was no need for him to get a GP referral first.

What this option will pay for

  • Outpatient treatment fees: for treatment by physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors, homeopaths and acupuncturists.
  • Up to 10 sessions a year: when you or your employees have been referred for treatment by a GP or our Working Body service.
  • Ongoing sessions: when agreed by us on the advice of a specialist.

  • Working Body - Our Working Body service gives you and your team aged 18 and over access to a physiotherapist over the phone, without the need for a GP referral.
  • Health at Hand - our telephone helpline is open 24/7 for health information and support from nurses and counsellors. Midwives and pharmacists are available from 8am-8pm Monday to Friday, until 4pm on Saturday, and until 12pm on Sunday.
  • Heart and cancer nurses - available by phone, who are experienced in supporting you and your family when living with these conditions.
  • Proactive Health Gateway - our online platform giving you and your team access to wellbeing support that's tailored to their individual goals. They can use the AXA Health Age calculator to find out their 'Health Age' and follow in-depth guidance and make suggested changes to get healthier.
  • Healthy rewards - including discounts across products at ActivePlus, our online health store.
