      1. Ask your GP for an open referral

        If your GP says you need to see a specialist, tell them you want to go private and ask for an ‘open referral’. With an open referral your GP doesn’t name a particular consultant. It means our Fast Track Appointments team can find the right specialist for you – one who is easy for you to get to, and who can also see you as fast as possible.

        Call us as soon as you’ve seen your GP and before you arrange any appointments. Our Fast Track Team can find you a consultant who is an expert in your condition. To help make everything as stress-free as possible for you, we can even book your appointment for you, so you don’t have to.

      3. Want a second opinion?

        Sometimes another opinion can be invaluable and that's why we offer our Second Opinion Service, giving you peace of mind and reassurance when you most need it.

        Our Second Opinion Service is designed to make sure you're completely confident with your specialist’s recommendations. The service is available on appointments that would be covered by your plan and we’ll pay for all related costs involved such as the first appointment with the new specialist and any new tests. You won’t need to pay any excess or deduct the second opinion from your out-patient entitlement.

      4. Finally, relax and focus on getting better

        The most important thing is for you to get well.

        After you’ve seen the specialist or had your treatment, we’ll arrange to pay them directlyˆ. So you don’t need to worry about anything else. It’s that simple.
