Private GP boost for large corporate health schemes

21 January 2019

AXA PPP healthcare is adding its Doctor@Hand private GP service to its Advance health insurance plan for large corporates – at no additional cost for the first year.

So highly do members – and their employers – value fast, unhurried access to a private GP, AXA PPP healthcare has decided to include Doctor@Hand as standard in Advance.

The offer will be available for new business from 1 April 2019 and to Advance clients and self-insured schemes renewing on or after 1 April 2019.

It includes unlimited Doctor@Hand GP appointments* – a real plus in light of the challenges of getting to see an NHS GP quickly.**

Doctor@Hand GPs can also write referral letters for members who need to see a specialist – and forward them to AXA PPP healthcare to set up the appointment.

“We want members to be able to see a GP by phone or by video as soon as they need to so they can have earlier conversations about their health issues and, in turn, get even quicker access to the treatment they need.

“We know employers are looking for value from their health insurer and, to help them get it, we’ve made 24/7 access to a Doctor@Hand GP a standard part of our corporate cover.”

“We share AXA PPP healthcare’s commitment to putting patients first.

“We are delighted to be working with them to bring the benefits of Doctor@Hand to many thousands more members of their corporate healthcare schemes.”

About Doctor@Hand

Access anytime
Members can use Doctor@Hand 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year* so they’ll always be able to fit appointments in, even outside regular GP hours.

Appointments are 20 minutes, giving members plenty of time to talk about their health concerns. And, if they need a prescription, they won’t have to visit a chemist.** They can have them delivered straight to their door.

*Subject to appointment availability
**Out-patient drugs may not be covered on members’ AXA PPP healthcare plan and may cost more than they would on the NHS.

Access anywhere
Whether at home, on holiday or abroad for work, members can get the advice, reassurance and the medicine they need to feel better.

Experienced GPs
Doctor@Hand is delivered by Doctor Care Anywhere – a doctor founded, patient focused company, regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Whichever doctor members speak to, they’ll be highly experienced and registered with the General Medical Council. They’ll look to diagnose their condition and recommend treatment.

Specialist referrals
For members who need to see a specialist, Doctor@Hand GPs will email referral letters directly to AXA PPP’s Fast Track Appointments service to check their eligibility and, if they’re covered, set up an appointment with a suitable specialist at a time and place that’s convenient for the member.

Medical records at a touch
Doctor@Hand GPs upload copies of members’ notes directly to their patient record for them to view if they wish. They can also provide full medical notes to members’ NHS GPs.

Doctor/patient confidentiality
Doctor/patient confidentiality is protected. Members’ employers will only be made aware of overall business usage but no personal details will be shared. They can even choose which GP they see – and ask to see them every time if they prefer.

Health tracking
Symptoms, conditions and lifestyle factors can be monitored and tracked with Doctor@Hand. Members can also set up medication reminders and share the findings with their Doctor@Hand GP if they wish.
