Canada Life chooses AXA PPP healthcare for employee support services

1 December 2016

01 December 2016 - Canada Life Group Insurance has chosen AXA PPP healthcare to provide employee support services to its 2.7m insured employees in 23,500 employer-funded schemes.

The arrangement, providing free and confidential access to service users, takes effect from 1st January 2017 and will see AXA PPP healthcare delivering the following services:

  • EmployeeCare (an employee assistance programme – EAP – featuring a full range of work life support services, telephone, face to face and e-counselling)
  • Bereavement Counselling (helpline with telephone, face to face and e-counselling)
  • Probate Helpline (providing specialist access covering family disputes, validity of wills, power of attorney and obtaining probate)
  • Health Risk Assessment (for personal health risk management using the AXA PPP healthcare ‘Health Gateway’ platform and app)
  • BusinessCare (for online and telephonic support giving employers the tools they need to comply with employment law, follow best HR practice and trade safely to protect their businesses)

Paul Avis, Marketing Director for Canada Life, said: “We take our responsibilities as the leading UK Group Risk insurer seriously and, as part of that, believe we should offer much more than purely just a financial benefit. Employees who are looking to stay healthy can use the new, online ‘Health Gateway’ or the EmployeeCare ‘Health at Hand’ telephonic support, while those who need emotional assistance or information, whatever stage their lives are at, can be brilliantly supported by the EmployeeCare EAP. It is worth pointing out that these services are confidential, available and free to use for all employees – whether insured or not – allowing us to really promote their usage within the workplace.

“Those recently bereaved can get practical and emotional support through our Bereavement Counselling and Probate Helpline services, but we should not forget who pays our premiums either. For employers we are providing BusinessCare, to support organisations and make sure they are compliant with the law, trade safely and provide best practice HR. We have combined both employee and employer benefits to augment our financial products.”

“Alongside our Early Intervention Service for absent employees (where insured under our Group Income Protection product), the Best Doctors Second Medical Opinion service and the Red Arc Personal Nurse service all contribute to us having a market-leading service, as well as a hugely attractive financial proposition.”

“We have chosen AXA PPP healthcare to provide us services that give our customers help in getting their employees to live healthier, more active lives as well as manage the pressures in their lives more effectively. AXA PPP healthcare is the perfect partner as a positive, forward-looking supplier to help us achieve genuine employee engagement at no additional cost to the policy premium. We look forward to working with them in the evolution of our shared vision.”

Gavin Shay, Head of Partnership Development for AXA PPP healthcare, said: “The alignment between the genuine passion for employee health and engagement that we share with Canada Life means that we have found a great way to leverage what we do so well in a new arena to us – group risk.”

“For employers to benefit from a productive and healthy workforce, employees need to know that they can get fast access to professional support when they need it. We look forward to providing this essential support – whether it’s immediate access to expert counselling or to information and guidance on everyday issues such as family care, legal and housing matters – to employers that have chosen that have Canada Life Group Insurance.”
