Everyone needs someone in their corner

Everyone needs someone in their corner. They don’t have to be physically near us, but it’s that person who can help explain the little things we don’t understand, encourage us when we don’t have courage, push us when we want to give up, challenge us by asking that difficult question.  Most of all, they’re that person we trust and respect who supports us not only when we need it but when we may not even realise we do. Let’s celebrate and champion those crucial people in all our lives, our everyday heroes, our sidekicks, the people in our corner.

You’re more likely to succeed in improving your wellbeing with
someone in your corner. Sam and Sian are living proof.

#InMyCorner with Katie Piper

In these special episodes of Katie Piper’s Extraordinary People podcast, Katie looks at how important it is to have someone in your corner, when it comes to your health and wellbeing…

TV presenter Tim Lovejoy talks honestly about losing his brother to cancer, who was only 37 years old. Tim speaks about the bereavement he experienced and indirectly, how he became fascinated with food and nutrition. Katie then talks with Jason Webb, a registered nurse who helped to set up AXA PPP healthcare’s bereavement support service for members. Jason shares ways he can help people going through a similar situation to Tim.

Journalist, author and runner Bella Mackie joins Katie to discuss how running saved her life. She openly speaks about her anxiety, intrusive thoughts, agoraphobia and how she’s turned her life around. Katie then speaks with Dr Mark Winwood, Director of Psychological Services at AXA PPP healthcare, who shares the ways people struggling with anxiety can help themselves.

Kris Hallenga was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer when she was just 23 years old. Within a few months following her diagnosis, she founded CoppaFeel! the breast cancer charity, to raise awareness about the disease. She speaks openly about living with cancer over the last 10 years. Katie then talks with Carol Bremner, a dedicated nurse advisor in AXA PPP healthcare’s cancer care team.

Take on anything, by understanding everything

The more you know about your health, the better decisions you can make to live the life you want.

Your blood can reveal if you’re getting enough nutrients from your diet, and even how well your liver and kidneys are working. With Realise health plans, delivered by LiveSmart, you send a small blood sample for a GP and registered dietician to analyse. They’ll come back with a personalised report so you can see what’s been revealed about your health. Including where you’re doing well and what you can improve on.
