Exciting new categories announced as programme - committed to supporting health tech pioneers develop innovations to benefit individuals and the workplace - continues into a fourth year
To mark the launch of Year 4 of AXA Health Tech & You, six exciting new categories are announced that form the awards programme for 2018. They focus on areas where these innovations are detecting, monitoring and helping people, either with specific conditions, or to make positive changes in their lifestyle.
Four new categories are launched today;
Two further categories will be unveiled and launched early in 2018.
Over the last three years of the awards programme, AXA Health Tech & You has identified an increasing number of developers, designers and entrepreneurs that are helping people to manage their health through the use of health technology, an objective that is actively supported by AXA PPP healthcare for the benefit of members and consumers.
Richard Cooper, Head of Digital at AXA PPP healthcare says: “We are excited to be launching our fourth year of the programme with six new categories. Coming through the programme we hope to discover pioneering health tech that will help with early diagnosis of dementia, mental health conditions in the workplace, and championing female health tech innovators. It will be interesting to see the new technologies out there and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase and support innovators in the development and integration of health tech solutions to benefit individuals and workforces.”
As well as launching Year 4 of AXA Health Tech & You, AXA PPP healthcare is currently working with health tech innovators and digital start-ups to help them develop and deliver a range of healthcare solutions. Simon Miller, Head of Proposition at AXA PPP healthcare, says: “Further innovations that facilitate the early detection of mental health conditions and support people to make lifestyle changes, helping them to achieve their goals, are among the solutions we are working with to help us deliver more efficient and effective customer healthcare journeys and outcomes.”
In partnership with Alzheimer’s Research UK, this category aims to identify the development of technology innovation and design that can support the diagnosis of diseases underpinning dementia. With 46.8 million people living with dementia globally and no cure for the disease, one of the key challenges is to diagnose dementia sufficiently early enough to give potential treatments that lessen symptoms the greatest chance of success.
The category aims to discover innovative health tech to aid early diagnosis through measurement of cognitive, biological or physiological changes. Entries may include designs that are developed or under development but must be applied to the diagnosis of diseases underpinning dementia.
This category aims to discover exciting and innovative health technology that has been designed and pioneered by women. It encourages entries from women who have created a product or service for consumers to manage and/or improve their health and wellbeing. It doesn’t matter what the health tech is, as long as it helps people live happier, healthier lives and is a product or service that is already developed and being marketed.
With only 17% of employees in the UK technology sector being female , this category will celebrate and showcase female entrepreneurs in the health tech arena. AXA Health Tech & You is working with Our Mobile Health and Collider Health with support from other partners including One HealthTech and Women of Wearables on this category.
This category aims to discover technologies and solutions that can deliver an engaging experience to people who are attempting a lifestyle change and to motivate them to keep to their goals.
This category has an objective to better support employees’ mental wellbeing and is looking for solutions that can monitor day-to-day behaviours and flag up early signs of mental health conditions.
Two further categories will be announced and launched in early 2018. Further information will be available then.
For a second year, AXA Health Tech & You is working with innovation accelerator, The Bakery, on four (of the six) categories, to find innovations that can partner with AXA PPP healthcare to possibly integrate the solutions through its member health and wellbeing programmes. Selected entries will be invited to pitch their proposition to a panel including representatives from AXA Health Tech & You, AXA PPP healthcare, and experts in the health tech sector.
The categories for the Health Tech & You Awards programme 2018 will have their own entry and judging approach. The categories will be supported by individual events throughout the year, culminating in the Awards evening in the spring of 2018, where the winners of each category will be announced. Previous winners and finalists have benefitted through increased awareness, industry partnerships (including with AXA PPP healthcare) and funding opportunities.
