I have discomfort around my rib cage front and around the back. If I press it feels sore around the ligaments I think? I work daily in an office full time and have had upper limb problems in the past but more with my neck and right arm/hand. Any suggestions for exercises that may help my rib pain?
There can be several reasons why you might be experiencing the type of pain you have. As you have a history of upper limb problems it is possible that you are now experiencing some referred pain to your back and rib cage.
Other possible causes such as inflammation to the connective tissue or muscles could produce similar discomfort as can gall bladder problems which often refer pain to the right shoulder blade as well.
Exercises can certainly help some conditions but it might be useful to obtain a diagnosis of the problem first, this can provide a guide as to what exercises may be useful or whether a different treatment strategy may help. Your GP will be able to assist with this and can undertake a physical examination and possibly some simple blood tests as well, therefore it would be helpful to see him for an assessment in the first instance.
I do hope this information will be of use; please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance in the future as well.
