I have had this pain for 2 years now it's on the big bones underneath my bottom on the inner side. I fell on my bottom and the doctor said I had bursitis, I went for physio but there was no change.

I cant sleep with the pain and have to keep turning, sitting is painful. Also it's just there I do have rheumatoid arthritis.

The Answer

I’m sorry to hear of the problems you have been experiencing. Bursitis of the joints in the sacrum can be very painful. It is usually a self limiting problem but there are various treatments that can be tried in addition.

As you have received no relief from the physio it would be sensible to speak with your Dr to discuss this with a view to other medication that might be available for you to take or try to help relieve the worst of the pain.

You mention you have Rheumatoid Arthritis while it is rare for this to affect the sacral joints possibly, a blood test might be helpful to check the status of your condition at this time.

Self help tips include not sitting for too long if possible and frequent changes of position when you do, the use of a pressure relieving cushion may also help. Please bear in mind that this condition will in time go away and best of luck with your Gp in the meantime for some relief of your pain.
