Can I have an MRI on my knee if metal remains in my foot from a previous toe straightening op four years ago?

The Answer

Having metal prosthetics, clips or fragments in the body does not rule you out of having an MRI scan, but this does need to be decided on an individual basis as the metal item may be moved due to the scanner or can cause issues with the image obtained. This is why you will be requested to fill in a questionnaire prior to the scan to note location and age of implant. Hopefully this will help you.
