Cupris Health eye’s Ophthalmoscope

The ‘Signs & Symptoms’ category at the 2015 AXA PPP Health Tech & You awards aimed to discover the best innovations to help doctors diagnose their patients. The winner of this year’s award was Cupris Health and its device, the Otoscope.

The Otoscope device allows doctors to take videos and photos of the ear canal so they can be shared between doctors and other health professionals to better understand the patient’s condition.

We caught up with the CEO of Cupris Health, Mike Pallett, who explained the direction the company has taken since the awards: ‘Our main focus since the Health Tech & You awards has been finalising our Otoscope and continuing the development of the new Ophthalmoscope.’

The Cupris Ophthalmoscope is a new innovation that is designed to be used by eye health professionals to image the retina and help diagnose and investigate eye conditions.

What’s next for Otoscope?

Cupris are hoping to bring the Otoscope to healthcare in the UK and India.

‘Even though the healthcare industry has made advances in developing innovative tech for people, there is still room for improvement.’

Mike believes that the fast-paced nature of the health tech industry demands innovators act quickly when it comes to developing a product.

‘Early user feedback during testing is important and acting quickly on reactions to prototypes is imperative to a successful product,’ adds Mike.

What awards are in line for Cupris?

Cupris has been shortlisted for a number of awards, including the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Value in Healthcare Awards. The HSJ Awards will take place on 22 September and will recognise organisations that improve efficiency and value in healthcare.

They have also been nominated for the World Design Impact Prize, awarded by the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, which aims to increase awareness of projects that are making a positive impact on our social, economic, cultural or environmental quality of life.
