I keep getting random pains in the side of my head. This has been going on for a month. Sometimes they only last 2 minutes. They are not excruciating. But dull aches that come and go. Sometimes they throb a little.

The Answer

You have not described the actual site of the pains. Could it be related to your teeth or jaw? Is the pain in the ‘temple’ area of the head? Are the pains always in the same place each time? Are the pains associated with any other symptoms?

Without taking a full history of the pain and performing an examination, it is very difficult to give a diagnosis (as the list is long). It would be very sensible to see your GP to go through it all properly, especially if the pains continue.
