Your questions answered

Richard asked...

I have just started to experience some pain on the chest around my sternum. It hurts more when I push on the area. I'm 26 and fit. I read some internet articles which mention costochondritis.\

Any thoughts? Can't really bothered to queue and wait for my GP unless you think it's worth getting checked out.

The Answer

To answer your question it is always worth getting symptoms such as yours checked out, this is to rule out possible other causes and to confirm a diagnosis which will help you to both treat and manage the condition.

Whilst the symptoms you are experiencing may well be due to an inflammatory problem such as costochondritis, there are also other possible causes and your GP will be able to quickly assess the problem.

Best wishes and good luck with the appointment.
