my granddad has had abdominal pain and recently visited the doctors abroad and they have advised after a scan that he has a dilated pancreatic duct measuring 4mm in the body and tail region and small fluid collection seen in the tail region. they have also stated the Right Kidney had two cortical cysts and the left kidney has one. both kidneys show multiple hyderdense calculi.
after having the same diagnosis from two doctors, one has advised an operation whilst the other has said can be treated with medication.
please advise as I am making plans to travel and I do not understand what to advise him.
Please let me know if you need further information.
Thank you for your question, this is a complex situation and unfortunately we are unable to provide advice or opinion on a consultant recommendation.
This is due to the complexity of the knowledge and information that will have been taken into account by these consultants to make a clinical decision regarding your grandfather’s care.
The consultant should be able to offer an explanation of both treatment options and why they feel one is more appropriate than the other.
