I have felt generally unwell for about 2 months now, have non specific stomach pains, cough, breathlessness, dizzy (foggy) head, general aches and pains, very tearful.
I have seen several GP's in the practice and have had blood tests and an ECG which have all come back clear. They have diagnosed General Anxiety Disorder and I have been prescribed Propranolol. I am not 100% convinced that this is the case as I do not necessarily feel anxious.
Do you think I should have an MRI scan or some other investigations or do you think this could be anxiety? I do have Private Medical Insurance with yourselves through my work.
We are sorry to hear that you are having a difficult time at the moment with all of your symptoms. Your General Practitioner has organised standard blood tests such as a full blood count, liver and thyroid function tests, and has organised an electrocardiogram (ECG) to exclude heart issues. The blood results and the electrocardiogram in conjunction with your presenting symptoms allows your General Practitioner to exclude a great many medical conditions with confidence from these tests.
We are unable to diagnose your health condition. We would suggest that you talk to your General Practitioner about the propranolol and whether this medication is having a beneficial effect at reducing your symptoms of generalised anxiety disorder. We would suggest a further discussion with your General Practitioner about using your private medical insurance with AXA PPP Healthcare for a magnetic resonance imaging scan (MRI).
