I had Labyrinthitis 8 weeks ago with earache. The dizziness went but I still have the earache. I also have had toothache for about 6 weeks - dentist has done x-rays and there is nothing obviously wrong (although it is the top and bottom molars on the same side both of which are capped).
I have neck ache and back ache from a previous accident and my neck on the side of my earache is tender and painful.
If it's not my teeth and not a bacterial ear infection - but both my ear and teeth hurt (ear all the time, teeth on and off) and paracetamol/ibuprofen kills the pain temporarily what could be the issue please?
Labyrinthitis is an inner ear condition that affects adults between the ages of 30-60. Most cases are viral, and the symptoms will disappear within a few weeks. However a small number of cases are bacterial.
In Bacterial Labrynthitis long term inner ear damage is more common, therefore the symptoms will continue. In these cases a therapy called Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) is sometimes used. There are also medications that can help keep the symptoms under control. You will need to speak with your Doctor about the treatment that they feel is appropriate for you.
