I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My doctor has prescribed Metaformin twice daily. My blood sugar is 6.5. I also have an appointment with a dietician but not for two weeks. Is there somewhere I could get a list of food to eat and food to avoid?

The Answer

Your Blood Sugar Levels are currently within normal range which is great. It is important that you make a few small lifestyle changes, rather than completely change your diet.

No food is banned with Diabetes; you may have everything in moderation combined with physical activity to burn off sugar that the body can’t use. Just remember 2 simple things…

  • If your Blood sugars are too low your body needs fuel (sugars)
  • If your Blood Sugars are too high you need to exercise to burn it off.

I have provided a link below which may help you further.
