Why do over 80s men get hot flushes? About 4 times a day. My husband had treatment for prostate cancer 10 years ago and started with these sweats about 6 months ago.

The Answer

There are many reasons for the symptoms you describe in your husband. I have listed some of these below.

  • Hormonal changes, possibly due to your husband’s past prostrate problems.
  • Diet and lifestyle, sudden changes can affect the body.
  • Stress, worry or emotional issues.
  • Undiagnosed clinical problem (such as Diabetes)
  • Virus or infection.

These are just a few of the conditions that can lead to hot sweats. I have provided a link below that gives much broader information. It is however always prudent to discuss noticeable changes in your body with your GP.
