Hi there, my wife has been suffering from chronic headaches, left side of her head for 3 months now. The pain is never going away although it now and again eases off but it's always there and sometimes it becomes unbearable. The doctor has prescribed medication but I think this will not resolve the issue in the long term, I would lik some advice of what I can do with my healthcare through work. Hope you can help.
Thank you for contacting us, I’m sorry to hear of your wife’s ongoing problems. A good starting point might be identifying the type of headache your wife is suffering from, there are thought to be five main types; Tension, Cluster, Migraine, Sinus and Rebound. Each type of headache has its own identifying feature, this can be important as identification of the type can help to guide the treatment. You can find more information about the different types here.
A Neurology specialist opinion can be very useful in both identifying and treating chronic headache syndromes. Under the circumstances and given your concerns it may be worthwhile asking your GP for a referral for your wife to see one, you can then call your policy team here at AXA PPP to both set up a claim using your policy and also to arrange an appointment. We do hope this information will be of use and wish you the best going forward.
