The answer

Thank you for contacting us with your question. Back pain and tension can often be related to the discs in your spine, the discs act as a cushion but can frequently became strained, tip or prolapse from their original position and press onto the disc below. When this happens the muscles in the back can spasm and seize up which may be causing the pressure sensation you have been experiencing. In the first instance it would be sensible to arrange to see your Gp, and they will be able to examine your back and arrange any tests that may be required such as an xray or scan as well as prescribe medication to help you feel more comfortable. If it is an issue with your spine and discs then physiotherapy for example is likely to be very helpful in alleviating the problem and putting you on the path to recovery.
