Andy asked...

I have a strange feeling in the right side of my abdomen. I don't have any pain just discomfort when mobile. I have had this for about three months and am scared of cancer.

The Answer

The abdominal pain can have various causes and most of the time it is not cancer related.

From your brief description, the discomfort could be caused by a muscle strain, a hernia or constipation. Other medical conditions such as large intestine disorders or even cardiovascular disease can generate various levels of pain in the abdominal area.

You noticed the abdominal discomfort for 3 months now. We wonder if you have any other symptoms such as nausea or loss of appetite.

We would suggest to book an appointment with your GP to examine you.

Pending on your own personal circumstances, they might be able to identify the cause of your pain or they can request further investigations, e.g. abdominal ultrasound, to help in diagnosing your symptoms.
