The answer

We thank you for your question. In this instance we do not understand why the general practitioner has prescribed a fungal cream for bruising.

Bruising occurs when the capillaries within our skin burst or break releasing blood into the surrounding skin tissue, causing a typical discoloration. This discoloration will usually disappear within two weeks. Initial home treatment for bruising is usually an ice-pack surrounded by a towel.

It may be prudent to return to the Gp for further assessment.
