If the toe is very discoloured, cold to the touch, you are unable to bend it, or you experience pins and needles in it, these are all indications that it may need to be seen by a GP.
Swelling and bruising are a normal response to injury and this will normally start to settle within 72 hours post-injury. Ice packs will help to reduce the swelling and paracetamol and ibuprofen can be taken for pain-relief providing you are normally able to take these medications.
