Sleep as we know it
A survey for the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), found that the public may be under-sleeping by up to an hour a night, losing almost an entire night's sleep each week. (source RSPH) That’s an average person. What about when a person suffers from prolonged or ongoing difficulty sleeping for a sufficient amount of time each night to feel refreshed and able to lead a normal life, also known as insomnia?
Our lead psychologist, Dr Mark Winwood, says: “Sometimes we all have trouble sleeping – perhaps as a result of stress, something traumatic happening in our lives or as a side effect of another health condition or medication. Whether it’s temporary or something you’ve been living with for a while, it’s important to identify what might be causing your sleep disturbance so that you can take steps to help alleviate it.
