Basal Septal Hypertrophy occurs when the heart is under more pressure than normal. As identified your husband has high blood pressure. Because your husband’s heart is working harder it gets bigger. Your heart (a muscle) will enlarge with exertion, just like a body builder lifting weights. This condition is usually controlled with medication and changes to diet and lifestyle to reduce the blood pressure and therefore the workload.
