The answer

Chris, many thanks for contacting us here at Ask the Expert.

There is no medical procedure called a Panoscopy however the suffix OSCOPY relates to medical investigative procedures using an adjustable microscope or camera to ascertain problems within the body.

These procedures are often done with the use of anaesthetic – local or general depending on where and why the procedure is required.

Types of – Oscopy examinations include:

  • Arthroscopy- Examination of joints – knees, shoulders etc
  • Colonoscopy- Examination of the colon
  • Colposcopy- Examination of the cervix
  • Cystoscopy- Examination of the bladder
  • Endoscopy- Examination of the throat and oesophagus
  • Gastroscopy- Examination of the stomach
  • Hysteroscopy- Examination of the uterus
  • Laparoscopy- Examination of the abdominal cavity
  • Sigmoidoscopy- Examination of the sigmoid( Part of the bowel)
  • Ureteroscopy- Examination of the ureters/ kidneys

We would suggest if possible that you find out what type of examination you require and contact your specialist or GP for further information about procedures needed.

Another useful source of information regarding procedures and health concerns is the NHS website - WWW.nhs.uk/conditions

We hope this has been helpful.
