I have a tickling, itching, crawling sensation that started at both ankles three weeks ago. Now moving upwards and presently at thigh level. Itching severe enough to wake me at night. Mostly occurs during the evening, at night and first thing in the morning.

The answer

This is a hard one on which to advise because there are so many possible causes for itching. Not only are there dermatological (skin) causes such as some kind of allergic reaction but also night-time itching can be a sign of an internal disorder including some blood disorders. My suggestion is to try an anti-histamine over the counter but if this doesn't work then see your GP.
