Low iron levels
Hi, I have been suffering with low iron levels for the past 2 years, when I was first tested my levels were 19 and with the help of iron tablets I got it up to 72 but then had to stop taking them as I suffer from reflux so it then dropped down to 32. Then I noticed by hair was thinning so I went to see a hair specialist who then diagnosed me with Telogen Effluvium. I would just like to find out what help I can get or what test can be done to find out why I don't have enough iron or why I can't keep my levels up.
Iron deficiency anaemia can have several causes, ranging from blood loss, either chronic or acute to dietary, the lack of adequate intake of iron from food sources to absorption issues, such as crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis or coeliac’s. Your doctor would have to test you for these conditions. Increasing your intake of iron rich foods may help.
