I have a metallic taste in my mouth.
I have a metallic taste in my mouth, I use a mouthwash but it is still there.
There are many causes for a metallic taste in the mouth (dysgeusia). These can range from infections of the gums/teeth or respiratory tract, side-effects of some medications, gastric reflux, alcohol excess, smoking and dehydration. In some patients where no cause can be found, the condition can sometimes be linked with anxiety and depression. The good news is that in most of these patients the taste eventually goes on its own. It may be worth making a trip to the dentist to have your teeth and gums checked and failing that make an appointment to discuss it with your doctor.
