After work such as digging I get a sharp needle like pain on the side of my elbow closest to my body whenever I put furter load on my elbow
Thank you for contacting us with your question, we're sorry to hear of the problem you are having, a sharp pain over the elbow may indicate damage to the soft tissues over the bone of the elbow- the olecranon- and can happen with repeated strain or over use. It may also indicate possible nerve entrapment although given your symptom is localized it is less likely. Tennis or golfers elbow could also give rise to similar symptoms and they are usually caused by the overuse of muscles and tendons near to the elbow joint. It would seem sensible to be seen and an appointment with your Gp for an assessment of your elbow and symptoms could prove very useful. You may also like to consider asking for a referral to an orthopaedic specialist and they will also be able to conduct a thorough examination and order any tests required to provide a diagnosis. Whatever the cause these type of conditions usually respond very well to non surgical interventions such as physiotherapy and medications and are able to be completely resolved.
