I can't stretch my calf...

I can't stretch my calf. When I try to pull my foot back, put my hands over my foot or stretch it against a wall I can't feel anything. The calf does tighten but I can't feel anything? Why is this happening?

The answer

Firstly it is important to ensure you are adopting the correct calf stretching technique with good posture to achieve maximum benefit and reduce the risk injury. There are various ways to stretch your calf muscles, depending on your level of fitness and flexibility. It may be that you would benefit from further assessment and support from a qualified fitness instructor or a physiotherapist. If you have concerns of an injury or are experiencing any pain and/or swelling then please seek GP advice.
