I have recently started having allergic reactions everyday. I am waiting to have allergy tests done, but in the meantime how am I meant to avoid what I am having a reaction to when I don't know what it is? I have had a reaction everyday for 7 days now, and at a complete loss as to how to prevent these.

The answer

Dear Emilie, thank you for contacting us with your question about allergies.

Unfortunately until the source of your allergy reaction has been isolated it is going to be difficult for you to know what to avoid. We're glad to see allergy testing has been arranged for you. In the meantime you may find it useful to keep a diary both of the food you each eat day and any topical creams or lotions you use on your skin, this may help you to identify any patterns emerging relating either to what has been eaten and drunk or used on your skin. If you do not already have some then we’d suggest having a chat with your GP about what medications you can have and carry with you to minimise the allergic responses you are having while waiting for the tests and their results.

We do hope this is resolved quickly for you Emilie and please do make that appointment with your Gp to discuss medications which can help you while you are waiting to be tested,

Nikki
