It is not unusual to experience pain when returning to exercise after a break. If this was your first episode cycling after some time then the foot pain may be related to the pressure you were putting on the foot while cycling. You have not mentioned if the pain persisted after the exercise. If this is the case then plantar fasciitis may be the cause of your pain, this is where the plantar fascia in the foot has become damaged and thickened.
This will have to be confirmed by your doctor, if confirmed you may need to take anti-inflamatory medication such as ibuprofen as well as pain medication, also physiotherapy can also help with stretching exercises, as can shoe inserts.
