Are sweeteners bad for you?

Hello, could you please tell me if sweeteners are bad for you, I am trying to cut out sugar, also if they are safe which sweetener you would recommend?

17 March 2013

I understand there are five sweeteners available in the UK that are a safe alternative to sugar (Aspartame, saccharin, acesulfame potassium (acesulfame K), cyclamate and sucralose). They are virtually free of calories and do not cause tooth decay or raise blood sugar in diabetics. They can be useful for people trying to lose weight. They are found in many sugar-free or low calorie foods and drinks. As with everything, you should eat them in moderation and only add them to food if you really have to. Nothing is better or safer for you than a diet rich in fresh foods, fruits and vegetables.
