A quick and easy breakfast that is prepared the night before. Great through all the seasons too - whether it is strawberries in summer or blackberries in autumn. Berries are also one of the fruits that contain the least amount of sugar so are a great choice.

Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • 35g dry oats
  • 15g linseeds (also known as flaxseeds)
  • 1 banana
  • 75g berries (strawberries, raspberries or blueberries work well)
  • 75g yogurt (unsweetened – choose Greek or natural)
  • 100ml boiling water


Into a bowl add the oats, linseeds and boiling water and stir together. Chop the banana and add to the oat mix with ¾ of your chosen berries. Mash together then cover and leave overnight. In the morning add a dollop or two of unsweetened yogurt and the remaining berries.


  • You can top with chopped nuts for an extra bite.
