Kim asked...

My wisdom tooth has been infected...

My wisdom tooth has been infected on and off for a few years. It is again very sore locally and into my throat with swollen glands. I suddenly came over very hot and felt like vomiting earlier.

Could this be linked and am I ok to wait until my normal dentist is open Monday? Many Thanks Kim

The answer

Any time you have the sensation of feeling hot and have swollen glands, this is usually an indication of infection somewhere within the body; nausea and vomiting are also associated with infection. As you have a sore throat and localised lymph node involvement this does indicate a likely recurrence of your dental infection, either at the wisdom tooth or another tooth in that area, possibly an abcess. This would need antibiotic treatment which will require a further, prompt, consultation with either your doctor or dentist. Once infection has resolved you will need the ongoing dental issue treated. Hopefully this will help you.
