Thank you for your question. It sounds like you have had a very difficult year, and must be exhausted by the length of time that your symptoms have continued.
It is unclear from your question if you are currently using any methods to control the symptoms which your GP has associated with Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

With regard to your current symptoms, if you are making changes to your diet, and exercising and following a healthy lifestyle, it would always be advised to continue to see our GP for further advice and possible investigations, especially if your symptoms change or worsen.
If you haven’t already done so, it may be advised to keep a notebook or diary and write down when your symptoms occur, and what may have triggered the symptoms (foods etc), as this may be really helpful in identifying triggers, and useful for your GP to be aware of.
Anxiety about your condition may also be a factor into worsening symptoms. Try to practice mindful ways to limit the amount of anxiety you are exposed to, or manage the anxiety. It may be suggested to seek advice regarding how to access help in these areas, and your GP will be able to advise further.
