I have been diagnosed with an allergy to Balsam of Peru

I have been diagnosed with an Allergy to Balsam of Peru. I have no idea what this is or where I find it, in what products etc. Can you help me to find suitable products for personal hygiene and Household cleaning and laundry to help prevent this allergy.

Balsam of Peru is a natural resin that is found in tree trunks in Peru. It is used in many things to add flavour and perfume. The list of things that contain balsam of Peru is very long. It includes cleaning products, cosmetics, sunscreens, insect repellents, baby powders, nappy creams, shampoos, soft drinks and chewing gum.

You will need to check the labels of any products you use from now on, so that you know which ones are suitable for you to use. Only use products that do not list it on the ingredients label. Choose ‘fragrance-free’ personal care products, rather than unscented.
