Dental insurance to suit your needs

Choose the right dental insurance for you

We understand that everyone’s different. That’s why we offer a choice of plans so you can pick the right one for you. Our Premium plan is suitable if you have private dental treatment. If you have dental treatment on the NHS, you might like to go for our Core dental plan.

Our Core dental insurance

This dental plan means you can get a range of treatment on the NHS without having to worry about the cost (subject to the terms of your plan). So you can have routine check-ups, hygiene treatments as well as more complicated treatment such as crowns, filings and bridges.

What’s covered?

Our Core dental plan includes:

  • Routine examinations, hygiene treatments, periodontal (gum disease) treatments on the NHS (after being a member for one month).
  • Treatments and dental x-rays on the NHS (after being a member for one month).
  • Dental treatment on the NHS that aims to repair damage or cure a dental problem rather than just treat its symptoms. This could be fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures as well as other similar treatment (after being a member for one month).
  • Worldwide accident cover. Up to £2,500 following a dental accident treatment for up to four incidents per person per policy year (after being a member for one month).
  • Mouth cancer cover, even if you smoke. We insure for up to £12,000 towards one course of treatment per person, received within 18 months following diagnosis.
  • Hospital cash benefit up to £60 per night up to 30 nights per person per policy year. Hospital cash benefit for each night you received in-patient treatment under the NHS in relation to dental accidents or mouth cancer.
  • Choice of visiting any NHS or private dentist treatment for accidents or emergencies.

What’s not covered?

Our Core dental insurance plan doesn’t cover you for:

  • Routine examinations, hygiene treatments, periodontal treatments, and dental x-rays received as a private patient.
  • Claims for costs incurred for periodontal treatment, dental x-rays, remedial or restorative treatment, which had been identified as necessary, by a dentist, before you joined.
  • NHS dental treatment costs for treatment prescribed, commenced, completed or paid for prior to the commencement date of this policy or within the first month of joining.
  • Claims for any costs incurred for treatment, other than for routine check-ups and hygiene treatment, which you ought reasonably to have known you needed before the date you joined.
  • Claims under the dental accident benefit for dental treatment required as a result of an incident that occurred prior to the commencement date of the policy, or within one month of joining.
  • Claims under the emergency benefit for dental treatment costs incurred prior to the commencement date of the policy, or within one month of joining.
  • Claims for courses of NHS dental treatment if you live outside the United Kingdom for six months a year.
  • Mouth cancer diagnosed before, or within 90 days after, the commencement date of the policy or for which tests or consultations began within those 90 days, even if the diagnosis is not made until later.
  • Cosmetic treatment, tooth whitening, orthodontics or any treatment not deemed to be clinically necessary, unless as part of a course of NHS dental treatment.
  • Sporting injuries where a mouthguard or other recommended protection is not worn, unless treated on the NHS.

Our Premium dental insurance plan

This dental cover means you can get a range of treatment privately without having to worry about the cost. That covers things like routine check-ups and hygiene appointments, as well as more extensive treatment such as crowns, filings and bridges.

What’s covered?

Our Premium dental insurance plan includes:

  • Private treatment for routine examinations, hygiene treatments, periodontal (gum disease) treatments and dental x-rays up to £175 per person (after being a member for three months).
  • 50% towards the cost of private dental treatment that aims to repair damage or cure a dental problem rather than just treat its symptoms. This could be fillings, crowns, bridges and dentures as well as other similar treatment. You can get this after three months of being a member. We have a limit of £1000 per person per plan year. Within this limit we’ll pay a maximum of £500 per person per year towards the cost of crowns, bridges, dental implants, inlays and onlays.
