Your questions answered

Suzy asked...

I had optic Neuritus last year

I had optic Neuritus last year, total loss of vision in one eye with gradual return however I have permanent damage. I've had chronic migraine and other neurological symptoms for five years so a referral was made to an ms specialist. The brain MRI was clear, that was the only test that was carried out and no physical exam took place. Is that enough by way of testing to rule ms out?

The answer

Hi Suzy,

Thank you for your question and sorry you have been left feeling confused.  I have sent you a very good link to the MS Society website and diagnostic testing;

https://www.mssociety.org.uk/what-is-ms/information-about-ms/diagnosis/tests-for-ms

Be reassured that MRI will pick up 90% of MS cases but the link above will clearly give you a clearer explanation of what other diagnostics are available.
