Our Chosen Charity for 2016 is West Kent Mind

    • West Kent Mind

Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales, and the best known charity for mental health. It works to create a better life for everyone with experience
      of mental distress by:

      • campaigning for people’s rights
      • challenging poor practice in mental health
      • informing and supporting thousands of people on a daily basis

West Kent Mind is one of over 180 local Mind associations which are affiliated to the national charity Mind. It is an independent charitable organisation, which supports the overall values and vision of the national organisation and is subject to its quality standards.

West Kent Mind’s CEO Jill Roberts said:
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this opportunity. It will enable us to strengthen our existing relationship with AXA PPP, through their employee wellbeing programme, and work with them on mental health awareness raising and tackling the stigma associated with it. It’s hugely encouraging that AXA PPP has such an open culture with regards to employee wellbeing, both in terms of physical and mental health, and is so supportive of our charity. We look forward to working with them this year and we hope to encourage other businesses in our community to follow their excellent lead”

Everyone at AXA PPP healthcare is looking forward to a packed year of fundraising and volunteering for West Kent Mind.

Our chosen charity for 2015 was SERV Kentserv-logo1

SERV Kent, which is also known as the 'Bloodrunners', is a charitable organisation that delivers blood products to the Accident and Emergency hospitals across Southern England at night, weekends and Bank Holidays free of charge, whenever and wherever it's urgently needed.

The charity is run by dedicated volunteer motorcyclists and drivers and was set-up in 1981. It supplies its service free of any charge, thus freeing up much-needed funds for improved patient care and other facilities within the hospitals. It also ensures that ambulances are not taken away from their regular service to deliver the blood products, which was once the case.

We raised over £35,000 for the charity throughout the year, from activities as diverse as auctions, cake sales, sporting events, a family fun day and even a pantomime. The money will fund a brand new and fully modified car for the service.
