The answer

There is some evidence that using any lubricant can affect the chance of sperm getting through the cervix en route to the ovaries. Because sperm which spend too long in the relatively acidic environment of the vagina don’t survive, this may reduce your chance of getting pregnant. If you can, spending more time on foreplay, to increase the amount of natural lubrication you produce, will maximise your chances. It’s important to remember that the average couple takes about six months to get pregnant, so the fact that you haven’t got pregnant within the first couple of months isn’t necessarily any reflection on what you’re doing.
