Nivedita asked...

Can my son travel with Chickenpox?

Tags: children

My son is down with Chickenpox. Rashes appeared ten days back. Now the rashes are drying up. Just want to know if he can fly (travel). If not what is the safe time for him to travel. Thanks

Do you need to see a GP ASAP?

Would you like to speak with a doctor by video or phone at a time that suits you?

Our Doctor@Hand service, delivered by Doctor Care Anywhere, offers a doctor appointment by video or phone at a time that suits you.

The answer

Chickenpox is considered to be contagious until the spots have all dried up and crusted over. It sounds like your son is not contagious any more (as you say the rash is drying up) so he would now be considered safe to fly and travel again. If you are worried about not being allowed on the plane, you could consider getting a letter from your GP to present at the airport (you would need to pay a fee for this type of letter).
