The answer

Bread is considered a basic part of many people’s dietary intake as it is so readily available and versatile in providing a quick snack or transportable energy boost. In particular, whole wheat breads can provide a nutritious balance of carbohydrates to give sustained energy with some protein and minerals, so should not automatically be excluded from most people’s diets. An inexpensive way to be sure you are getting a healthy alternative to bread is to make it yourself, although this can be time consuming.
