Stuffed datesStuffed dates are a popular treat in Algeria. Dates are extremely nutritious; they are a rich source of iron and calcium and their high fibre content can help alleviate constipation and keep the bowel healthy.

Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 16 dates
  • 40g marzipan
  • 2 tbsp mascarpone
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnut pieces
  • 1 tsp honey

Method

Split the dates lengthways along one side and remove the stones.

Cut the marzipan into 8 cubes. Take a cube and roll it gently between the palms of your hands into a finger shape. Place the marzipan into 8 of the dates.

Place the mascarpone in a bowl and mix in the chopped walnuts and honey. Fill the remaining dates with a teaspoon of the mixture.
