The answer

Sorry to hear about your weight battles. You are not alone - some people definitely find it harder to manage their weight than others for a variety of reasons, and different approaches can help different people.

We only lose weight if we consume fewer calories from food and drink than we burn via activity and metabolism. So changing what you eat, for example in response to a diagnosed food intolerance would only lead to weight loss if it resulted in you eating fewer calories. If you would like to investigate this further and get reliable, supportive help with identifying and addressing why weight management has been so tricky for you, ask your GP to refer you to a Registered Dietitian or see one privately (see www.dietitiansunlimited.co.uk).
