Our 2 month old baby had reflux when she was very young and due to the medication my partner had to stop breast feeding. We put her on to an anti reflux formula and she has stabilised, following recommendations we have now moved her back on to normal formula, and apart from the odd sick up she is coping very well. We changed her formula about 10 days ago and in the last 2 days her poo has smelt really sweet (not in a pleasant way!)Is this the change in diet just with a delayed reaction or could it be an indicator of something more?

The answer

It is possible that the change in her stools (poo) are due to a change in the diet, but it is really nothing to worry about. Stools can change in smell or colour for many reasons, without  being anything to worry about. Blood or diarrhoea however, should always be taken seriously.
