The answer

A coil can be removed by a GP, a trained practice nurse or a Consultant in gynaecology or genitourinary medicine. If you cannot wait for your appointment with your GP then you could try ringing your local family planning clinic, who should also be able to help. Failing that, you could pay to see a doctor privately.
