Alison asked...

I have a pain in my thigh.

I've had a pain in my thigh for several months, it started in my buttock at first but now is in my thigh and not sore in buttock. If I tense the muscle in my leg it's really sore especially during the night when I try and turn over in bed. Haven't injured it that I can remember so not sure what's going on?

The answer

As you have not injured the leg, I would suggest you see your doctor to examine your leg and hip. Night pain should always be taken seriously and you may need to have an X-ray and blood tests to look for the exact cause. If you are an older person it could be arthritis of the hip joint that is causing the pain and an X-ray will be able to tell if that is the case.
